PJB Marathon 2020 *Canceled*
Written by LINDA on March 2, 2020
This year, WHRW will be hosting the Paul J. Battaglia Marathon on March 13-14 from 1pm-1pm. We will be hosting 24 HOURS of live games, music, and talk radio in honor of Paul.
To give you some background, we celebrate Marathon every year in honor of Paul James Battaglia, our former General Manager from 1998 to 2000. After graduating from Binghamton in 2000, Paul got a job working for Marsh Risk Consulting in Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. Unfortunately, Paul passed away in the 9/11 attacks.
While he was at WHRW, Paul was known for his humor. He always made the most of his time on air and also loved to have his own marathons. In honor of Paul and his light-hearted spirit, we have a 24 hour Marathon to mess around and play games together in the station, while encouraging listeners to donate money to the scholarship fund in Paul‘s name.
Here is how to make donations to the Battaglia scholarship during or after Marathon:
Please make all checks payable to the Binghamton University Foundation, in the memo section of the check note “Paul J. Battaglia Memorial Scholarship acct 20489”. Mail checks to: Binghamton University Foundation, PO Box 6005, Binghamton, NY 13902-6005.
To make a credit card donation over the phone please call the Gift and Donor Records Office 607-777-6929.
